Postive Test ResultWhat does it mean if I have a positive test result? If you have a positive test result, it is very likely that you have COVID-19. It is highly recommended that you stay in isolation to avoid spreading the virus to others.
The CDC recommends that you stay home until the following occurs:
|
Asymptomatic TestingFor patients who are not currently experiencing symptoms or are worried about being exposed to someone who has tested positive. A nasal swab sample will be collected and shipped to an off-site lab that can conduct a PCR test. This test is covered by most insurances.
Symptomatic TestingFor patients that are experiencing symptoms a rapid antigen test can be preformed. This typically takes 15 minutes to run after being collected. If the test comes back negative a second nasal swab will be conducted and the sample will be sent to an off-site lab that can conduct a PCR test. This second test is covered by most insurances.
ProcedureFor testing purposes we would prefer that you come to the pharmacy and stay in your car in the parking lot while your test sample is collected and processed. A pharmacist will help you determine what kind of tests should be conducted. The test requires a nasal swab. If the BD Veritor antigen test gets a negative result, we will preform a second nasal swab that will be sent to a third party laboratory.
